So Much Guitar! marked Wes Montgomery’s first recording with pianist Hank Jones. So Much Guitar! was also Wes’ first recording session with Ron Carter, with whom he would collaborate on three more albums. So Much Guitar! contains the only existing collaboration of the guitarist and drummer Lex Humphries. Of course, all further possible collaborations were brutally cut off by Wes’ sudden and unexpected death due to a heart attack on June 15, 1968, at the age of 45.
