The tragic death of Malcolm Hale in 1968 was a major blow which the band never recovered from, disbanding in 1969.

In 1975, the band briefy reformed.

Lead singer Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane went on to become the lead singer of the reformed The Mamas And The Papas.
