Intro
Mu, a project that was split into two separate albums, captured the legendary free jazz multi-instrumentalist Don Cherry at a time when his range of influences was truly global, refracting a multitude of sounds through a new aesthetic that we now know broadly as ‘world music’. Mu First Part, released in 1969, finds Cherry working solely with percussionist Ed Blackwell and entirely on the basis of improvisation.
