Boreal Massif is a collaborative project from Pessimist and Loop Faction. We All Have An Impact is their debut release.
Built from field recordings and a deep, dubwise reservoir of trip-hop / drum & bass influences (think B12's Electro-Soma, vintage Mo Wax records...), rugged breakbeats emerging from droning,heavy-weather ambiences, We All Have An Impact addresses the destruction of the natural world and our ecosystems. Boreal Massif's raw, unpolished but richly textured anarcho-electronics offer a blueprint for the next generation of New Age music.
Bristol-based Pessimist is best known for his d’n’b and techno releases on labels such as UVB-76, Osiris Music and Samurai Music. In 2017 he released his debut album on Blackest Ever Black to considerable acclaim. Boreal Massif’s We All Have An Impact is the third release on Pessimist’s own Pessimist Productions label, which he established in 2018 as an outlet for his more experimental work, and follows the recent self-titled LP from Pessimist & Karim Maas.
