CD set compiles the original versions of songs that inspired the Rolling Stones on their album, “Blue & Lonesome”, along with 23 other (remastered) blues originals, that were selected by The Stones for the blues tribute compilation “Confessin’ The Blues” bringing together the best blues musicians ever and were covered by The Stones during their long life spanning career.
Original blues and R&B masterpieces from the 50s en 60s, originally recorded by the greatest pioneers of the genre like Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, Howlin’ Wolf and many, many others.
The Stones’ versions of Muddy Waters’ “I Just Want To Make Love To You” and Slim Harpo’s “I’m A King Bee” appeared on their debut album ‘England’s Newest Hit Makers’, 1964, Chuck Berry’s “Come On” on their debut single, Dale Hawkins’ Susie Q” on ‘12 X 5’, 1964, Marvin Gaye’s “Hitch Hike” on ‘Out of Our Heads’, 1965 and Howlin’ Wolf’s “Little Red Rooster” on their second no. 1 single. Howlin’ Wolf’s “Little Baby” (‘Stripped’ 1995). There’s Allen Toussaint’s “Fortune Teller” (‘Got LIVE If You Want It’ 1966), Muddy Waters’ “Mannish Boy” (‘Love You Live’ 1977); The blues that inspired five young (blues)-rockers from London even to this day
