The Cosmologist continues their trip around the musical universe, focusing on the records that were formative personal influences. This one is a detour away from the clubs and casts the spotlight on the modern soul world, with these new versions kept sympathetic to that era, but in a way that will still work up a sweat on today's soulful floors.

The A side is another socio political masterpiece from 1973, from one of the era's foremost songwriters, Sam Dees. The new version keeps very true to the source, with some subtle re arrangements, augmented with a looping percussive shuffle and some cosmologist stardust sprinkled lightly on the mix.

The flipside goes back even further to 1968, another classic soul groove from Barbara Acklin. Here the Cosmologist extends the main vocal track, with the lesser known piano version from Young Holt Unlimited, to give it a new twist and extends the listening pleasure to just under 5 minutes. Perfect for this new 7" format chosen to celebrate the longevity and power of soul music and the staying power of vinyl as a format. This is lined up as a limited edition release for Record Store Day 2015, as this is precisely what RSD is all about….
