Orlando Weeks has today announced the forthcoming release of his highly anticipated sophomore solo album; ‘Hop Up’ on January 14th 2022.
Featuring inspiring contributions from Katy J Pearson, Willie J Healey and Ben Reed (best known as part of Frank Ocean’s live band, he also played bass on the seminal ‘Blonde’ album ), the Bullion produced record will be released on CD, digital formats, and as a must have limited edition blue vinyl – available to pre-order & pre-save here
Arriving in the wake of his critically acclaimed debut solo album ‘A Quickening’, Week’s forthcoming record once again leans into themes of new life & parenthood, but whereas his previous work catalogued the emotions, expectations and anxieties that accompany imminent parenthood, Hop Up is an altogether more joyous and life affirming statement.
Weeks notes “It started with the idea of wanting to fill in some of the blanks that I felt I had left with ‘A Quickening’, but quite quickly it turned into something broader. The choice was always to take the more positive and uplifting sounding step. Perhaps it shouldn’t have, but as an approach it felt surprisingly novel to me.”

‘Hop Up’ has been announced alongside the new single ‘Look Who’s Talking Now’; a leftfield pop gem full of warm instrumentation, soaring vocals and the kind of unguarded and emotive lyrics that prompted The Ivors Academy to recognise Weeks’ work during his time as lead singer with The Maccabees.
Weeks’ comments “’Look Who’s Talking Now’ is a love song. A song about expectations being fulfilled and exceeded. About knowing what’s coming and still being exultant when it actually happens.”
Recent tracks ‘Deep Down, Way Out’ and ‘Big Skies Silly Faces’ provided an alluring introduction to what promises to be a career best record.
A-listed at 6 Music and added to a host of major playlists across DSP’s, debut single Big Skies Silly Faces was greeted with a wave of attention from the likes of Clash, DIY, Dork, NME, Notion and The Line of Best Fit, as was the follow up focus track ‘Deep Down Way Out’ which featured a uniquely brilliant video with actor & comedian Lolly Adefope.
Orlando Weeks’ headline tour was recently rescheduled to March 2022 and was extended with added dates in Birmingham and Brighton. NME’s five-star review of his EartH show back in 2020 noted a “beguiling show of restrained energy, a deeply felt performance… The singer has made music to hold someone close to, a live experience urging you to reach out and squeeze their hand.”
