Nujabes
Nujabes is a musician, composer, DJ, and producer, who has been active in a wide range of music activities based in Shibuya, Tokyo since around 1995.
In March 1999, he established “Park Avenue Studios” in Jinnan, Shibuya, and runs an independent label.
After releasing more than 30 12-inch singles, he released his long-awaited first album “Metaphorical Music” in 2003. In March 2004, he was selected as the music director for COMME des GARCONS' Bali Collection, and after producing the sound for the anime “Samurai Champloo” for Fuji Television

and appearing at SonarSound Tokyo, he released his second album “Modal Soul” in November 2005. In November 2005, he released his second album “Modal Soul”. In November 2007, he released his first record collection album “2nd Collection” four and a half years after “FIRST COLLECTION”, and in 2008, he released a compilation album of his influences, “Modal Soul Classics By Nujabes”. Even after his death in a car accident in February 2010, his genre-defying, one-of-a-kind sound continued to attract followers worldwide, and in 2018 he was ranked the #1 most played Japanese artist overseas in the U.S. by Spotify. In 2022, the remake of the song was featured in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, creating a buzz. He continues to be highly acclaimed around the world.
