Two years after their debut with “Il ballo della vita”, triple platinum, the most irreverent band of the Italian music scene releases “Teatro d’ira – Vol. I”, the first volume of a larger project that will unfold during the year, detailing, almost in real time, the band’s creative progress and new key experiences. The single “Vent’anni” (platinum) and Eurovision-winning unreleased song “Zitti e buoni”, double platinum in Italy, were the starting point for this ever-changing and ambitious project.

The new album was entirely written by Måneskin and recorded live at the Mulino Recording Studio in Acquapendente (VT) – where the band performed a mini live show to present it – thus recalling the “analogue” mood of 1970s bootleg recordings, with the intention and desire to recreate the live atmosphere that the band experienced during their first, long 70-date tour across Italy and Europe. A raw and contemporary album that was entirely recorded live and that fully expresses the band’s style and sound.

The theatre is a metaphor that clashes with the term ‘wrath’ used in the title and becomes the setting where such wrath takes form. Rather than anger against a target, it is creative energy that rebels against stifling stereotypes. A catharsis that, thanks to art, generates a rebirth and positive change.

“Ours is not rage directed against someone, it’s anger that shakes things up, that starts revolutions – stated Måneskin – it’s cathartic anger against oppressions and oppressors, which pushes you to vent and rebel against whatever makes you feel wrong and which, as a consequence, leads to a rebirth and change. We decided to place this very powerful energy in a setting, the theatre, that, in our collective imagination, is perceived as an elegant and calm place. We like this antithesis: a contrast that strikes you the very moment the curtains open and, instead of a show or a ballet performance, you find yourself thrown into this explosion of energy. The theatre is a metaphor for art, it is the place where this powerful impulse generates something artistic and positive”.

In “Teatro d’ira – Vol. I”, Måneskin’s sound takes on a new connotation to best convey their message. The concept of freeing yourself from the shackles of conformity and from useless filters lies at the heart of the band’s value system, together with the desire to be authentic. A message that, since their first single “Vent’anni”, has always been for Generation Z, but that is now addressed to the public at large: it’s an invitation to shake off preconceived labels that people give you to live life to the fullest and always be yourself, without being afraid of what others think.
