Jess Gillam is the trailblazing young artist forging a new path in classical music. Carving out a new repertoire landscape for her instrument, and classical music in general. Curated by Jess herself, the album’s music is rooted in minimalism, with a track sequence shaped to mirror the flow of energy in a 24h cycle. The album is centred around Michael Nyman’s virtuosic ‘Where the Bee Dances’ concerto, which Jess performed at her BBC Young Musician final. Framed around this are shorter tracks from multi-faceted, pioneering and genre-breaking artists/composers. A collaborative process, Jess has forged new connections with composers on 2 stunning commissions, as well as several new arrangements.
