Confidence Man, the most fun band since the B-52’s grew beehives, recently made a return with First Class Bitch, a track designed to make you feel like you’re on top of the world, at the top of your game, no matter where you might be in reality.
“I'd been thinking about this for a while now... It all started in London, when I saw a pair of socks with the words “first class bitch” embroidered on them, hanging in a shop front window,” explained singer/ songwriter Janet Planet. “I suddenly realised, I too was a first class bitch. I rushed back to the penthouse and penned this hit. Ever wondered what you hear when you die? This is it.”
And now the track gets a re-working courtesy of the much-loved duo Groove Armada. Themselves recent recipients of the Krystal Klear and Joe Goddard remix treatment, they turn First Class Bitch into a spiralling anthem, keyboards creaking and wheezing to a satisfactory conclusion.
Talking about the remix, Tom Findlay of Groove Armada said:
It’s been a real pleasure to remix this excellent track by Confidence Man for Heavenly Recordings. The groove was instantly something we wanted to explore, and to give it a Tom Tom Club kind of feel, I dusted off my old bass guitar to give it a more live feel, and to take it in a slightly different direction to the original. Hope you enjoy it!
Turn it up, ease back, ride that ego trip. Sure, by the end of it you’ll be dancing, but you’ll be far too sure of yourself to notice what that really looks like. Go ahead, feel yourself. It’s ok. Confidence Man have given you that. It’s in the name, after all.
