while the soundtrack album of 'The Last Emperor' was received with great acclaim. [Released in 1989.]

The first album signed to Virgin Records in the USA.

The album featured Brian Wilson (Beach Boys), Robbie Robertson (ex-The Band), Robert Wyatt (ex-Soft Machine), Youssou N'Dour, Art Lindsay and many other guests.

The songs on this album differ between the overseas and Japanese editions.

The album includes two Okinawan folk songs and a cover of The Rolling Stones' 'We Love You'.
